Our Story

Welcome to Kuts Deep, where heritage meets contemporary design. Discover the story behind our brand and our commitment to honoring traditions while creating sustainable in a modern world.

A Weave of Past and Present

At Kuts Deep, I weave together my heritages with contemporary aesthetics, using natural fibers and sustainable practices. Each piece tells a story of strength.

The inspiration comes from many places, both high and low—from urban fashion and its vibrant visual language to the refinement of the runways, museums, and nature itself. Also inspired by the weight of lived experience, rebellion, resilience, transformation, and the unique, unbreakable identity of being of mixed heritage: Ute, Dane, and New Mexican (Genízaro).

The Chief Blanket Reimagined

Our new capsule collection is a modern tribute to the timeless legacy of the Chief blanket. Realized in sweater form, it represents a beautiful bridge between tradition and contemporary creativity.

Meaning

I named the brand Kuts Deep out of reclamation, resiliency and resistance. And it my way of honoring lost names. Through Historical renaming and reclassification of Indigenous people, who were forced to adopt European names and assimilate into foreign cultures and religions. This process erased powerful and spiritual earned names and the stories behind their creation. Especially less politically correct names, like Shoots Over, Yellow Kidney, Priest Killer etc. The loss of identity inflicted deep cuts into the fabric of Indigenous culture.

Kuts Deep is a testament to the fact that the wounds of the past are not forgotten, and that within the acknowledgment of those "deep cuts" lies the power to heal, resist, and honor the powerful spirits of the past, while looking to the future.

"Kuts Deep is more than just clothing; it's a powerful statement of identity and heritage. The designs beautifully blend tradition with modern style."
